Selfies are now regarded normal and updates on social media especially when loved ones are off to a certain tour or an event. Celebrities, also utilise moments by clicking a selfie or two to keep loyal fans updated on not only daily schedule but events, tours and trends. Nevertheless, the same was taken to another level on Wednesday when close to the entire Indian cricket team posted pictures as they left for Sri Lanka.
India cricket team will play three Test matches, five ODIs and a one-off T20I against Sri Lanka. It’s a highly anticipated tour as people look forward to the new man Ravi Shastri’s first mission after being given the popular opportunity to coach Team India.
The visitors are specualted as favourites by many however, they’ll be well aware of the threat that the Sri Lanka can produce at home, especially after pulling off a stunning record win against Zimbabwe recently.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who had a brilliant ICC Champions Trophy and the Indian Premier League personally, posted a picture, tagging the pace duo of Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and stating: “And we are ready.. Off to Sri Lanka @ImIshant @BhuviOfficial.”
Ishant Sharma, nevetheless, posted a picture with Bhuvneshwar in the frame simply highlighting: “Off to Sri Lanka!!” A lot will depend on Ishant, the senior most of the pace battery captain Virat Kohli has at his disposal while Bhuvneshwar’s swinging deliveries are expected to create problems for the opposition.
Umesh Yadav, the other highly helmed fast bowler in the side shared a selfie with a similar caption that read: “Off to Colombo #srilanka#”.
The main man Kohli easily posted one as well. Along with KL Rahul, who is with a new hairdo these days, the swashbuckling right-handed batsman posted a picture on his official Instagram account stating: “Flight delays call for a selfie, #Srilanka it is! @rahulkl #Enroute #BackToBasics.”
It wasn’t the first one for Rahul who came in one with Hardik Pandya while they were on the team bus. “the brother-man is back with a bang. off to Sri Lanka #INDvsSL @rahulkl,” he wrote on his Instagram handle.
There were a couple of others sharedas well, from New Coach Rohit Sharma and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, but some say it was the best from coach Ravi Shastri who had a special message for the team and his own loyal followers
In a collage that featured the cricketers walking with their luggage, Shastri wrote: “Great to unite with the boys again. Feels like yesterday #TeamIndia.”
