Shikhar Dhawan clearly dominated the innings with a score of 190 from 168 balls which included 31 boundaries of 4 runs.
A strong partnership with right hand batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara saw knock a 144 runs from 247 balls.
Abhinav Mukund and Captain Virat Kohli did not have a strong with each only getting 12 and 3 runs respectively, from balls coming from Sri Lanka player Nuwan Pradeep and wickets by their wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.
The first day ended with Ajinkya Rahane hitting 39 runs from 94 balls to close on 399/3 after 90 overs with C. Pujara.
